Making a come back...

No.. unlike the title of the post might suggest.. this isn't going to be a post about all my amazing comebacks... (although I'm thinking of doing that next week).. this post title is more just to indicate that.. I haven't completely given up on blogging.. I have just had the most hectic kinda 8 or so weeks of my life..

Update:

New (ish) workplace: Oh.. my. Best move I ever made... ( I hope they are all reading this ).. besides the fact that I'm getting paid to hang out with a lot of people I really like (again, I sound like I'm sucking up), there's lots and I mean LOTS of food. I'm kept busy.. which you may have noticed, due to my lack of blogging.. although I've noticed.. like no one blogs these days! How sad! But yes, what was I saying.. I'm kept busy, this I acutally like.

Weekend of Honour: Boy! What a weekend.. Late nights which turned into early mornings at the church... pretty dressy.. my curling iron chucking as spas on me.. a really really early morning so that you all could hear the really really spendid choir. My oh my.. The choir!

Trip to Tasmania: I went away for a week down to Tasmania. To visit, some family (hold the rude jokes) and some friends down there. I stayed with my best friend Tegan.. and yes.. I definately remember why she is my best friend. The weather is great down there.. No I didn't come back with a disease of some kind.. the disease everyone has down there actually isn't contagious.. and no I didn't die from a raging bush fire. Although I did spend the second night while I was down there, preparing the house I was staying at for one. Bush bashing.. while under the threat of a potential bush fire that was up the road - is actually quite fun!

And well.. that's all I can be bothered updating on.
I haven't died.. as some people seem to think I have.

Will add some Tassie pics soon!

Sleep?

I’m currently so tired. So that I’ve tried about a million, give or take several hundred, ways to keep myself awake at work.

1. Working
2. Slapping myself across the face
3. Coffee
4. Standing up for long periods of time
5. Tea
6. Music
7. Nanny naps at my desk
8. Food
9. Blogging
10. Myspace
11. Emails
12. Fresh air
13. A walk outside
14. Singing
15. Working – I tried this one twice
16. Reading a magazine
17. Forcibly holding my eyes open

Okay, so it was more like give or take 999,984 ways..
Not even the scary lizard – who I named ‘Scary Lizard’ who continues to jump out and frighten me, can keep me alert and shake me from my tiredness.

The purpose of this post. I’m not really sure. Oh wait – yes, it’s another way to try and keep myself awake and entertained. If you think of any other creative ideas, please let me know, by the time you get around to commenting (which I highly encourage) today will probably be over, but I shall use your helpful hints next week at work. However not the week after – cos I won’t be bored at my next job.. Will I guys?

Ripped off.

Yesterday as I was driving home and I saw a guy with the number plate..

688 EMO

First thought was. What a loser - this guy has gone and got a personalised plate and gotten what he's been labelled as on it. That's like someone getting BLONDE6 or STUPID11.

Then as I drove past this guy - I realised. He wasn't an emo, and it wasn't a personalised plate. This guy had just gotten the letter combination EMO for his license plate.

How ripped off does the non emotional guy feel that now his license plate automatically labels him as an EMO.. and that judgemental drivers (myself) instantly assume this guy is an emo.
And how ripped off does the emo out there feel - that he didn't get lucky and get the combination 688 EMO for his number plate. Those personalised plates aren't cheap!

Just so everyone knows - the numbers I've used for the licence plate, are just an example.

Love and Hate

A couple of things I'm currently a little obsessed with...

  1. Crispy MnM's
  2. The Hillsong London Album
  3. Photos
  4. Lights
  5. Gilmore Girls Episodes
  6. The smell of cut grass
  7. Birthdays - 13 days till mine
  8. The colour white.
  9. This red dress I found the other day while shopping for someone else!
  10. Crying. I don't know why - I tell everyone that everything makes me cry, when it doesnt

A couple of things that I'm currently despising...

  1. Starting the day off with ten pens & not being able to fine one by lunchtime.
  2. People who brake suddenly.. & people who start braking waaaay too early.
  3. Scary movies
  4. Liars
  5. When my phone dies on me
  6. The fact that while we've had bit of rain lately, my car still looks dirty.
  7. High heels - my feet are killing me.
  8. The colour pink.
  9. PDA's - you all make me sick. Go take your lovey gooey happiness elsewhere.

I had to make sure that I had one more thing that I loved than the things I hate.. Otherwise I look like one of those negative people. And that's definately not me.. at all. :)

Counting down the days..

It's nearly that time of the year - and by that time of the year - I mean..
It's nearly my birthday - wooohooo!
And while this post is mainly just cos I haven't updated in forever and to remind everyone about this joyous occaision - there is more to the post.
What do I want for my birthday..? My mum keeps asking me what I want and I cant' think of anything. It's my 18th this year so I need to try and think of something good..

There's the obvious - I could ask for a car. But I already have one.
Someone said I should ask for a motorbike - somehow, I don't think I'd grasp the full potential that a motorbike has to offer..
I'm trying to think of the other typical 18th presents - otherwise I'll get something really lame. And that would be - ... well.. very lame.
This is actually one of those posts where I'm asking for comments cos I want any suggestions you might have.. What are some good presents you've gotten over the years?
I'm not just asking cos I need ideas - I really am interested. Honest.

23 days..

Weird

I've realised over the years.. that people love to give me nicknames. Normal ones - and particulary odd ones that I never seem to understand. Here's a list I compiled..

  • Steff (Possibly the most common one)
  • Steffa
  • Steffy
  • Steffie ( I think there's a difference)
  • Steffania
  • Teflon
  • Mother Teff
  • Faffy Dingo
  • Stefarrny
  • Willy (This one I resent)
  • Steffni
  • Steffinini
  • Steffy Wheffy Woo
  • Stressed Willis

Are there any others I've forgotten..? Would you like to come up with a new nickanme for me? I didn't think you could get so many out of Steffany. There's also about a million ways to spell my name.

  • Stephanie (the most common)
  • Stephany
  • Stephani
  • Stephany
  • Steffanie
  • Steffany (probably the coolest)
  • Steffani
  • Stefanie
  • Stefany
  • Stefani
  • Steffanii
  • Stephanii
  • Stefanii - haha these are getting weird now..

Gee - this was a dumb post. All about me and my name.. Hmm.. Oh well. A post all the same.

My August Resolution

In one of Jessica's recent posts - she mentioned what I think is a really great idea.

Monthly Resolutions.

Mine are.

1. To try and bring lunch from home 4 out of 5 days of the week.
2. To try and be in bed asleep before 12 every night, including weekends.
3. To not catch the flu and to get rid of my husky/sexy man voice which keeps coming back everytime I've nearly gotten rid of it.

How you know when you've become a true blogger addict.

1. You look at every situation and circumstance and think "How could I turn this into a good post"
2. You've made a friend or two through blogging.
3. You've made an enemy or two through blogging.
4. If someone's updated, you're the first to know about it as you check everyone's blog's more than once a day.
5. If you haven't checked everyone's or updated your own blog in a while - you feel out of touch with the world.
6. Having received no comments on a post makes you cry.

Happy Birthday to Matt - whose birthday it was on Sunday.
And Happy Birthday to Blaine - whose birthday it is today.

Inspired.

"myspace is the new blogger! that's the reason why no one is blogging. everyone
needs to get a myspace cause it's the cool thing to do... i've joined cause i'm
cool." Luke Matthews comment on Jeremy Frasers Blog.

I have been inspired to post.

I feel like I have to take a stand for the bloggers out there. The REAL bloggers.

I have indeed joined MySpace - but.. I'm still blogging. Blogger is for the committed. For the truly creative ones.

Also MySpace is only for boosting (or lowering) your self esteem. It's all a big competition. How many friends can I have? How many comments can I get? How many peoples favourite friends lists am I in? How many emo pictures of myself can I display?

I still feel that Blogger, through all the hard times, through all the competition, has retained some of its class. There's something truly wonderful about a committed blogger. People such as Linus, Ruth, Kathryn..Even Jeremy (however infrequent his updates are)..These people are blogging even when they feel their blogs aren't being heard. Because they don't really care, it's not about how many comments they can get, how many friends they can acquire through having a cool MySpace layout..

So in conclusion - Steff says NO to Luke Matthews. I will still blog, no matter how addictive MySpace may be.

Note: Although I may look like an avid myspace addict, I really find it quite irritating. I'm sick of it accidently posting my comments twice. I look like a moron!

Birthdays and Haircolour..

Have you ever noticed that redheads haven't always had the best repuation..
We're either fiery redheads, or dorky redheads, or sunburnt redheads, or freckly, pale redheads.. For a long time it wasn't cool to be a redhead.
Now some of you will still say it isn't cool, but I'm here to tell you that you're wrong.
I was born a redhead (no matter how pale it is) and despite my various attempts to "get rid" of my reddish hair.. I am still very proud to be a redhead. There's something incredibly wonderful about being a part of TEAM RED.. running to the sound of REDNUTS ASSEMBLE.. and of course the joys of slip slop slapping 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year!

I've noticed with my hair, that some strands are blonde, (some strands natural blonde, some fake) strands of brown, strands of orange, and then strands of red. Today I found a strand of red.. It's kind of wirey.. and very cool. The pure red strands are getting rare, as whenever I find one I pull it out and just marvel at the wonder.. *I thought I would share this all with you*

Also - a big holla to my homie.. (what's with the gangsta talk steff?) Laura Fraser.. whose birthday it is today.
Love your insides Laura. Now you can get married, and let's hurry up about it.

How embarassment..

Today, as I was walking back from the post office, I tripped on what I'm sure was a pretty big ditch on the path, while lots of cars were waiting at the red light. It was kind of embarrassing..

That's all.

Funny things I saw and heard today..

Shutup everyone.. I know I posted yesterday.

  • My mum singing at our cat "Whats new pussy cat woah, woah"
  • Seeing someone run out into the pouring rain covering his head with what I imagine were very important documents. This I would normally understand - but this guy is practically bald. Why bother getting the papers wet for the sake of keeping your hair dry?? It's not like he could have ruined his hairdo with the rain..
  • Someone coming into work today - slightly intoxicated after lunch at the pub.. Who was telling my boss to 'shutup' and telling him he looked ridiculous cos he wasn't wearing a tie - and that he couldn't pull off the suit without a tie look cos "you're not a rockstar"
  • Going without sleep for 17 hours has the same effect on your response/reflex/reaction time as if you had the blood alcohol reading of 0.05..

So for all you soccer fans out there - have a serious think about that. Make sure you're getting the required 8 hours of sleep..

And now that I have done 3 posts since Friday... I shouldn't need to post for a while..

Classic little sister moment..

Tonight my brother and I were discussing several very serious and interesting topics.. and as we must have been discussing the recent trend of girls and their lack of clothing.. The word.. 'Whore' turned up in our conversation.. To which my 11 year old sister yells at the top of her lungs..

"AH! NOT THE H WORD" - as she screams and runs from the room with her hands over her ears

"Uh, Georgia..Honey.. Whore starts with a W"..

Pure gold..

At least I thought so..

Things I've noticed recently..

  • To build up your comment tally - post something meaningless.. then don't post again for another week.. Proof = 26 comments.. From a 4 worded post!
  • Sometimes it's easier to be honest with everyone else than it is to be truly honest with yourself.
  • People tend to neglect their blogs during exam time..
  • Aquarium's are apparently all the rage!
  • That one can never have too many pillow's.. I have 8 and counting..
  • There's absolutely nothing wrong with praying for puppies..
  • The later at night it gets - the brighter everyone's headlights seem..
  • That there are several types of friends..

Friends you only joke around with, friends you only fight with, friends who "get" you, friends who don't seem to have a thing in common with you, friends who pray for you, friends you pray for, friends you spend all your time with, friends you never see, friends you encourage, and friends who encourage you..and friends who just seem to be an odd but great combination of everything.

Laura Fraser and I had lunch today - we held hands and kissed.. TWICE!!

Which means - Crown.

Choices..

In life we're faced with many choices.. Sometimes simple choices - Which route to take to work, how many sugar's you'd like in your tea, whether or not you'll go through that yellow light and risk it turning red.. Things like that. And sometimes we're faced with difficult choices - Who I will marry, should I quit uni, should I get a new job - Or.. The choice that I am forced to make all the time.. The most difficult of all.. What will I have for lunch today?
To make matters worse.. Albany Creek has a surprising range of options..

MacDonalds - Reasonably cheap but incredibly.. Overated.
KFC - Greasy to the max.
Subway - not so bad - bit pricey for a sandwhich.
Noodlebox - A healthier option
The Pub - no go area for me..
Thai - Not very time efficient..
Fish & Chips - Ew.
Red Rooster - again, a little on the greasy side..
A large number of various bakeries offering... well bakery type things.
Donut King - I'll just pass
Nando's - fairly scrumptious..

And these are just the options in walking distance..
For some reason I seem to keep bringing my overated soups from home.. Why is that again?

Oh yeah.. I'm broke.

Also - today my boss decided that he would take the other two admin staff out for lunch today to celebrate us having a good month.. Thanks for inviting me!! Just cos I have nothing to do with rentals.. I had to take my lunch break an hour early - Which means the afternoon will be even slower.. Great.

Yes.. I am in a bad mood..

Oh.. and another thing..

I know I know - Another post so soon. But seriously..

I'm currently on my lunch break. Trying to force myself to eat whatever this crap is that I made for lunch. - It's so bland and blech - So I thought - Hey maybe some salt will fix the issue. So off I go - making my way to the back of the office - Going to get some salt. Guess what?

We don't have any salt!

We have 3 different kids of pepper - but no salt.
We have maple syrup - but no salt.
We have citric acid - but no salt.
We have 5 bottles of wine - but no salt.
We have a bottle of metamucil - but no salt.

But hey - The next time I feel like getting smashed while cleaning out my bowels, while enjoying freshly peppered pancakes - I'll be set.

But right now - I'd really just like some salt.

The window cleaning saga continues..

Being the good employee that I am - I was cleaning the window's the other day and while I didn't come across any chocolate smears. I did find something else - something worse.

Lipstick.

Yup.. Someone had obviously pressed their lips up against the window while wearing a considerable amount of lipstick. What the?

Was someone kissing the window? Just trying to frustrate me?

I don't want to know.

The joys of the flu

I sound like a man.

And it really REALLY sucks.

What I've been trying to articulate for years..

One of the deepest ways a woman bears the image of God is in her mystery. By "mystery" we don't mean "forever beyond your knowing," but something to be explored." "It is the glory of God to conceal a matter," says the book of Proverbs, "to search out a matter is the glory of kings" (25:2). God yearns to be known. But he wants to be sought after by those who would know him. He says, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jer. 29:13). There is dignity there; God does not throw himself at any passerby. He is no harlot. If you would know him you must love him; you must seek him with your whole heart. This is crucial to any woman's soul. "You cannot simply have me. You must seek me, pursue me. I won't let you in unless I know you love me."
Captivating - John & Stasi Eldredge

There you have it guys. Now you can quit with the whole - I'll never understand girls thing. We want to know you actually care before we let you understand us.

Some random thoughts and photos

This photo proves that once upon a time I was smart. Nevermind the fact that this photo was strategically posed to position me to look like a nerd.
Proof I can be domestic. That's some nice diced tomatoes you have there Steff.
Sweet as.
Today.. I stumbled across something that I found quite hilarious. And you thought my lame attempt at a blog was blog - Here you can check out.. and I kid you not. Real Estate Blogs. Yes folks, how sad indeed.

It's a pity he's taken. I think we work well together.
This post goes out to Linus - because he thinks I'm the second most random person he knows. I'd actually like to know who the most random person you know is. I'd like to know who I'm up against - because as much as you all think being random is the lowest form of wit - I like being a teeny bopper and succumbing to the peer pressure that general teens are exposed to.

Things that make you go.. Aww.

A little girl just came into work with her mum who had to pay some rent.
This little girl climbed up onto our chair - then onto the table.. And proceeded to dance on top of the table singing at the top of her lungs.

"Ooo Swervaaaaaaahhh... Dallayyyddoooo.. Mah, mah mah"

So so so cute. Nevermind the fact that I will now have to clean the table she danced all over. This has changed my previous opinion - and given me some hope - that maybe children are cute after all.
However. The little rotter who put chocolate all over the window.. Is still a little rotter. Only SOME children are cute.

Ah, the frustration.

For those of you who have worked in real estate, visited me at work, visited someone else you know who works in real estate, bought a house, sold a house, rented a house, or even walked past a real estate office and drooled at what you could never afford - which by now I think I've covered most individuals, you would know - that all real estate offices have a display window, Full of all the house that are currently For Sale.
If you have ever been a receptionist for a real estate office - then you would know that part of your duties - along with the washing up, vacuuming, dusting etc that you must clean the windows. I'm meant to clean the windows every second day. But.. It's a pretty big window, I'm a pretty slack employee. So I probably clean the windows once every two weeks, sometimes once a week if I'm bored.
I've been trying to be a better employee lately so I thought, What the hey, maybe I'll clean the windows today. So off I go to get my window cleaner - and some newspaper.
Hint - Newspaper is the best thing to clean your windows with!!
The window was as you can imagine after 2 weeks of me being on holidays - pretty dirty. People tapping the window, pressing their noses up against the glass, well, it leaves dirty smears. And yeah, you get that. But I wasn't prepared for the chocolate smears.
Someone's little child was obviously a bit too high on Easter happiness and forget that they had chocolate all over their fingers. Or maybe the little rotters did it to spite Me. Either way, I spent more time cleaning those windows than I wanted to.
This is what I get for trying to be a good employee. And people wonder why I don't like kids!

*Sigh*

I have to go back to work tomorrow after 12 wonderful days off..

And I feel like crying. If you can remember you're first holiday during your first year of full time work.. then you will understand what I'm currently going through..

A post about nothing.

Things that are annoying me right now..

  • I've got this really pretty chandelier in my room. One of the lights decided.. let's not work and annoys Steff. So yes, the dull lighting in my room is annoying me
  • My budget isn't balancing..
  • I ate some alfoil just before, and it's left a really gross taste in my mouth.
  • The laptop is making my legs hot.
  • Bert Newton. What an idiot.
  • I have to go back to work on Wednesday after 12 wonderful days off.
  • The fact that I actually ate alfoil. Who manages that..
  • The headache I'm beginning to get due to the fact.. That I can hear my brother's stereo - which is down the other end of the house.. thumping away. That was a dumb idea Mum.
  • I think I've got scars on my ankles from having too many blisters.
  • Males.

Some things that are even more frustrating than those previously listed.

  • I'm too lazy to change the light bulb that blew.
  • That the only reason I'm broke is because of my bad shopping habits.
  • I'm too lazy to go and brush my teeth to get rid of the alfoil taste.
  • That pierson has a really loud stereo.. and all I have is my laptop speakers. Talk about unfair.
  • Bert Newton will always be 12 times richer than me.
  • That I bought the innapropriate footwear, which caused the blisters in the first place.
  • Males.

I've also realised that this post was pretty pointless.. All you've learnt from reading this post was that I'm pretty lazy.. and that I'm pretty darn good at complaining about a whole load of nothing.

We could just pretend..

Guess what??

I saw The Veronica's today!!

Put aside the fact that you probably don't like them - or their music and that they tend to dress like skanks and think about the fact that I saw someone famous today!! They walked past my work - How exciting. They are so beyond short - and very very thin. And when people say that famous people always look better on the tv and in the magazines. Well it's partly true - though I have to admit. These girls still looked reasonably cool.. As cool as you can look when you're headed to the A/c Pathologist that is.

So that's my exciting news for the day.
Also.. I got a new phone.. I put a picture so you all know what it looks like. I like it a lot.. If anyone tells me that it's actually a really pathetic phone, I'll hurt them. So yeah.. this is my post from work again. Have a great day/night kids.

How could I?

The other day I came to the shocking realisation that I had actually missed out on one of the most important days of the year. I had actually forgotten to celebrate my anniversary. For those who were interested.. I am still single.. The anniversary I am referring to is in fact my 2 year anniversary for working at Best & Less. Yes folks, 2 years ago, last Friday, I was offered a job at this highly exclusive retail store specialising in men's, ladies and children's underwear! Woot! Excitement plus..
Speaking of anniversaries.. I also celebrated my 2 month anniversary of full time work. Who ever convinced me that taking a year off before going to uni was a good thing.. I'd like to see. Actually - come to think of it. That was probably my idea. I've come up with one of the main reasons as to why I don't like work..

For those of you who don't know.. or.. If you haven't taken the time to come and visit me at work, I'll let you in on some inside goss. For some reason, work is situated in what appears to be Albany Creek's medical/fitness centre. Pathologists to my right, pilates to my left. Down the road is the podiatrist, the orthodontist, a private fitness studio, a weight loss centre, a physio and your local gp. While this is setup will be good if something goes wrong at work. Like if I staple myself with the stapler again, or if I chop my finger off with the guillotine, at least I know there's someone nearby who can help out. However.. It's doing nothing for my self esteem. I swear the pilates ladies are looking down on me each time I come to work because I haven't signed up yet. I know us Real Estate girls are the talk of the shopping complex because we actually eat fast food for lunch. Needless to say, the location of my workpace is probably just encouraging me to be even more paranoid than usual. Like, who seriously gets excited about work anniversaries. If anyone has any remedies.. for both my boredom, and my paranoia. Please.. let me know.

Fishing

At least three times a week I have the honour of listening to my boss and his fishing mate talk about all things fishing. Hence the reason why they are fishing mates.
I have come to the realisation, through various phone calls etc, that fishing is a most exciting hobby. Although I don't understand any of the fishing jargon, the excitement is in their voices. My boss takes at least one day off a week to go fishing, his wall at work is covered with pictures of him and his latest catch, instead of newspapers to read at lunch we have the latest edition of "Club Marine" and instead of spending/wasting his time writing meaningless posts online, he spends his hours researching which rod is hot this week!! Which is obviously a much better use of his time. Perhaps we can all learn a lesson from this.
Back to my point, trust me, I have one.

Has anyone considered a fishing trip recently? If so, I'm keen.

Seriously.

It usually takes a lot for me to become motivated about something. I'm actually quite surprised and embarassed. All it took was some eavesdropping on my part and one man's passion for his hobby.

I shall forgive you if you find this topic so boring that while reading this post you have found no urges to comment :)
